Market Flats is a 38,000 sf 5 story mixed use residential building consisting of 44 residential units and 2100 sf commercial space located on the corner of Capital Way North and Olympia Ave. NE. The building’s character stems from its location at the intersection of the historic corridor of Capitol Way and the newly identified Art/Tech district. The primary brick façade on Capital Way utilizes the historic tri-partide form with a strong base, midbelt, and prominent cornice. Steel awnings wrap the corner of the retail space and identify the residential entry. The secondary façades on Olympia Ave and facing the alley are constructed of concrete and metal siding providing a transition to the more industrial character of the art tech district.
Parking is on grade tucked behind the building and accessed off the North alley. Solid waste collection is provided for the building as well as neighboring 222 Market with a large trash compactor and drop boxes to minimize disturbance to residence and neighbors by reducing the number of collection trips required by the city.
