Old 99 replaces a blighted mid block lot in Olympia’s Historic downtown core. Designed to fit within historic downtown Olympia, Old 99 emulates historic brick construction with an expressive facade and large windows. Deep awnings at the commercial and retail entries provide for the pedestrian and cut down the scale of the building. The residential units are designed for efficiency, and 29 of the 48 units are designated as affordable. One of the main goals of the project (and TAS' partner Urban Olympia's investment in downtown) is to bring much needed workforce housing into the walkable core. Old 99 is an excellent example of how private development working in partnership with the public sector can bring affordable housing to the marketplace.
